Escape PS1 Hagrid is an indie game developed by Lolscrubs. This free-to-play game will take players on an adventure inside Hogwarts Castle. Here, you will play as Harry Potter himself in a game that spans three different genres: survival-horror, platforming, and fighting.

Unlike other Harry Potter games, Escape PS1 Hagrid will not give you the experience of learning spells and dueling other students. Instead, you will sneak out of the dormitory in the middle of the night and do various tasks. While you do that, keep an eye out on Hagrid, who is patrolling the corridors at night.

Escape PS1 Hagrid is a third-person adventure game. As mentioned, you play Harry Potter, who, for some reason, decided to sneak out of the dormitory at night. On your way, you met Dumbledore, who gave you a task to collect 15 green potions. Then, Dobby will ask you to collect syringes. And if that is not odd enough, you will have to attack Hogwarts students as another mission.

As the game's title suggests, you have to do all these tasks while escaping Hagrid. The Hogwarts gamekeeper patrols the corridors at night, and if you are caught, your game ends. There are three difficulty levels: Muggle (Easy), Prefect (Medium), and Chosen One (Hard). The difficulty of escaping Hagrid depends on the difficulty you choose. There is also the Difficulty-that-Must-Not-Be-Named option, which is for a boss fight.

The game spans three genres, survival-horror, platforming, and fighting. However, the fighting gameplay is one-sided as the opponent will not cast a spell to fight back. The controls are simple: WASD for movement, CRTL to crouch, E to interact, and LMB to attack. However, while the entire premise is fun, the character movements are a bit weird. The dialogue display could also use more speed.

Is the game worth playing?

Overall, Escape PS1 Hagrid is a fun game for any Harry Potter fan. It has a fun premise that spans three different genres. It also comes with simple controls that do not take long to master. Moreover, it allows you to choose the difficulty level you want to play. However, this is a parody game. With this, don't expect a storyline that resembles the books.
